Are You Set Up To Ring Whoever You Want?

Friday July 16, 2010

There was a report online recently in one of the main daily papers that said most people could not remember the mobile number of their partner. This is probably understandable if they don’t have a head for figures, but you would think this is the most important number you would have to remember.

But perhaps the most important thing of all is that if you buy a new mobile phone, you spend the time loading it up with all the numbers in your phone book.

The reasons for this are simple. The last thing you want is to be so eager to use it that you don’t set it up properly in the first place. Just imagine being out and about and realising you have to call your partner (or anyone else for that matter). Now suppose you are in the group of people who can’t remember their partner’s mobile number. What will you do then?

This is why the first thing you should do when you get your new phone is to sit down and take everything out of the box it comes in. If you have ever bought a new mobile phone before you will know it typically comes with all kinds of bits and pieces. Sort all these out and find the instruction booklet before charging your phone up so you can use it. Once it is fully charged you can look forward to using it.

At this stage you should look to see how you can get access to the phone book of your new phone. Get your old mobile and start transferring across all the important numbers. Take this opportunity to get rid of any old or defunct numbers you don’t need or use any more. You can always make a note of any that you aren’t sure on or would like to check.

Once this is done you will have all the most important numbers you need in the phone you’ll be carrying around with you all the time. And the most important one of all will be your partner’s.

It might be that we are all so used to having them on speed dial or simply selecting their name that we have no need to remember their actual number. After all we don’t really need to just type it in any more do we? And according to the report, this has led to instant forgetfulness among many of us.
