For some people, nothing but a BlackBerry or an iPhone will do. They need to have all the functions and abilities that a computer would give them – or close to it anyway.
But do we all need that type of phone? And more importantly, do YOU need that kind of phone?
The very nature of mobile phones means that most of us have had at least two or three during our lives so far. Monthly contracts give us access to new and free handsets on a regular basis, which means we don’t get that long with any individual one before something new and better comes along. We don’t have to use it of course, but it just goes to show how many options and different types there are out there that we can try.
The best thing to do to figure out which handset is best for you is to think about how you use them. Do you normally just use your phone for texting other people, and perhaps making the odd phone call? If the answer is yes then just a very basic phone will do. It may still come with a camera but you won’t need anything particularly loaded with whistles and bells to get along with.
You’ll need to ask yourself how worthwhile it is for you to have a camera on your phone of course. If your phone is set up to send pictures to other people then having a camera on board is very useful. If you are out shopping and you have spotted something you might want to buy, it is far easier to text a picture of it to your other half than it is to try and describe it over the phone!
A lot of the people who have their own businesses find that BlackBerrys and iPhones are very useful to them. These handsets enable them to go online at any point and send emails, visit websites and do any number of other things as well.
This is obviously very worthwhile because you can do a lot more with one of these phones than you could with a basic model. If you are out and about visiting clients you may still need to be in touch and keeping on top of your emails. In this case nothing but a Smart Phone will do, so keep this in mind.
It’s clear that understanding your needs is the best way to find the right phone for you. Some people could not imagine having anything but an iPhone in their pocket. Other people couldn’t imagine what on earth they would do with one! It all depends on what type of person you are, what your needs are and also how much you have to spend on a phone.
Make sure then that you check all the contracts before you decide what to buy. You might be better off with a Pay As You Go phone instead, so you are in charge of what you load onto it and when.
