How Well Do You Look After Your Mobile Phone?

Tuesday October 20, 2009

Mobile phones have to put up with a lot from their owners. We might take good care of them when we first have a new one – whether we buy it or it is given to us with a contract – but as time goes on that level of care might go down slightly.

That is a shame because mobile phones are essential to our modern way of living. If you are out and about in your car, in the countryside perhaps, and you break down, what would you do if you didn’t have a mobile? You would end up having to walk potentially a very long way to find help, or at least a phone box that worked.

So you see, that mobile phone needs to be protected and looked after to make sure it is always on hand to help when necessary. What can you do to make sure that happens?

Well, for starters you should make sure you get some kind of case for it. Some phones have a specific case that can be used with them. Some mobile phones that aren’t flip phones or of a sliding design can go in small leather cases that have a transparent window in them. This enables you to use the phone without having to take it out of the case.

Other phones, such as the clamshell design, won’t be suitable for this type of case. Obviously in this situation you need to flip the phone open to be able to answer it or use it. You can still get cases for these though, and indeed you should do to prevent any damage from occurring when you use it.

A good idea to go for here is to buy a sock to hold it safely. These are generally knitted and they are open at one end. The thickness of them is highly protective if you should end up dropping your phone for some reason, and yet you can slide the phone out quite easily if you need to answer a call.

Another good point to think about is to add a wrist strap to your phone if you can. There is usually a small hole at one corner that you can thread it through to attach it. You can then thread your wrist through it so that if you are using it in public you will be less likely to drop it or even have someone try to snatch it from you. The other common thing that people do is to drop it in the bath or some other water source – and yet a cheap wrist strap will stop that from happening!

As you can see there is a lot that you can do to make sure your mobile phone stays fit and healthy for a longer period of time. They are designed to take a certain amount of knocks, but in the end they are still quite delicate pieces of machinery. So be sure to take good care of them.
